The Tigers are into their third full day in Maribor and are getting ready for Saturday's first friendly of the summer against Konyaspor.

City's squad in Maribor has been swelled by the arrivals of Oscar Zambrano and Matt Targett, and it's expected more will follow over the next few days, before the group heads to Istanbul for the final leg of their two-week trip away.

After being announced as City's latest summer signing on Thursday morning, Matt Targett was back out on the grass.

The defender is a little behind the rest of the group, having only arrived on Monday, so he is involved in different bits of the session as he gets up to speed, and it's expected he will be fully involved in training by the end of the camp.

Thursday's session was a little more relaxed, with various small-sided games and plenty of foot tennis being played, which, as you can imagine, was wholly competitive.

Compared to the usual two-hour stint, this was over an hour for the majority of the players. Targett and some of the younger members of the squad stayed longer for some extra fitness work, and were joined by Nathan Tinsdale, who has since been added to the travelling group.

City's players, staff and the media were invited to the Arena Hotel based through the trees at the back of the Play Green training centre, for a lavish BBQ.

Set at the base of the gorgeous Pohorje mountains, popular with skiers in the winter, the attentive staff delivered a stunning spread of barbecued meats, breads and salads.

After a more relaxed training session, this was the perfect way for everyone to enjoy their lunch and a break from the daily feeding frenzy in the team's hotel.

The club's staff had arranged a surprise birthday cake for Abu Kamara, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Tuesday, but unfortunately for the member of hotel staff tasked with delivering it to his table, it ended up on the floor.

Just as she carefully walked out into the garden area, with the cake complete with a large, lit candle, the whole cake went sideways and slid off onto the floor.

Right in front of a group of footballers, you could feel nothing but sympathy for the waitress. While that cake was no more, Kamara was still serenaded by his teammates and was given some lovely little strawberry sponge numbers. What the players didn't eat, the rest of us did. Happy Birthday, Abu!

Following their most relaxed session of the week so far, the players were given the rest of Thursday off to spend at their leisure.

Some went off to play padel, others stayed at the Arena Hotel to use the spa facilities, while a group were off on the golf course.

Given the hotel's location right in the middle of the town, other members of staff went for a walk to take in the very pretty surroundings down by the Drava River.
