Highly-rated midfielder Jens Hjertø-Dahl has completed his eye-catching move to Hull City after the Tigers were able to seal a deal with Eliteserien club Tromsø, believed to be in the region of £8m.

The 20-year-old has impressed playing in his native Norway, and City have moved quickly to get the deal wrapped up in time for him to be on the aircraft departing Humberside Airport on Friday for Frankfurt, after signing a five-year deal in East Yorkshire. The length of the deal underlines City's hopes for a player regarded as having a huge future ahead of him.

A Norwegian Under-21 international, the powerful midfielder has impressed playing for his hometown club, and those displays in the heart of their midfield have seen him represent his country from Under-16 upwards.

Since making his debut for Tromsø., he's gone on to make a century of appearances, scoring 16 goals and arrives in English football with a significant reputation, and a chance to impress in the Premier League.

Hjertø-Dahl said: “I’m very happy. It’s a massive club and I’m really looking forward to playing here. I heard of the club’s interest a little over a week ago. From there, it’s happened really fast.

“I spoke to the Chairman on a video call and he told me lots of good things about the club. I also spoke to Sergej and I really like his vision for me and for the team.

“I’m a tall midfielder. I like to get forward, run with the ball, pass the ball forward. I can arrive late in the box. I am strong in duels, both in the air and across the ground. The last three and a half years with the senior team were the greatest years of my life in Tromsø. I will miss them but I’m ready for Hull and what’s waiting here.

“I needed a challenge and this is the biggest challenge you can get. I think this is the right step and that Hull can help me improve. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the atmosphere, so I’m really looking forward to it.”
