Leicester City's asking price for Oliver Skipp, Stephy Mavididi and Harry Souttar is currently too high for potential buyers, according to reports. All three have been linked with moves away from the club this summer, but remain part of Russell Martin's squad.

Souttar has captained Leicester in their opening three games of the 2026/27 season, despite being the subject of strong interest from Sheffield United. The Blades have failed with bids for the defender and are likely to turn their attention elsewhere.

Mavididi has been left out of the City squad by Martin for the League One games against Notts County and Burton Albion. The winger, alongside Wout Faes, has been the subject of rejected bids this summer and is expected to leave before the window shuts.

To get it, it's a simple one-two punch.

Now, journalist Alan Nixon has claimed that Leicester are facing a challenge in selling the three players due to their asking prices. After standing firm on their £10m valuation of Souttar, City are said to want £12m for Skipp and £6m for Mavididi.

Middlesbrough have been linked with both players, with the Foxes' previous £15m asking price making a move for Skipp a non-starter. Mavididi also has interest from Rangers, although a move to the Championship appears to be the most likely outcome.

Josh Holland's verdict: One of the biggest problems with City's behaviour in the transfer market over the years has been how poor the decisions have been with selling players. They either ask for too much or accept pennies. This summer, that has changed and to their credit, they have improved.

Souttar's price has always been £10m, that hasn't changed throughout and Martin's admiration of the Australian means any exit was always only going to come at the right price. Skipp's case is an interesting one, as if he does leave, City will need to bring a replacement in before the window closes.

Some want a new defensive midfielder to be signed without Skipp's exit, or have Sammy Braybrooke drop deeper to replace him. Both could still happen, but Leicester are going to do their best to receive the best fee possible, although £12m is a surprising fee. I just fear they might regret not getting him out the door sooner.

And in terms of Mavididi, the fact that he's been left out of the squad altogether in the final two games says it all. The winger won't be here when the window closes and, based on his last two seasons, isn't worth £6m.

With two years left on his contract, the club has every right asking for a fair price. Leicester have already replaced him with Tommy Watson, so they have more room to manoeuvre in that sale.
