Barcola has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer as they look to strengthen their forward options in the squad.

New manager Andoni Iraola has added one new signing to the squad that he inherited from Arne Slot, with Victor Munoz arriving in a £34.5million deal from Osasuna.

A report from L’Equipe has stated that Liverpool and PSG are currently in talks over a potential deal for Barcola, but adds that there is a major gap in valuation between the two clubs.

Separate reports have suggested that PSG value Barcola at around €170million (£145million), particularly after Morgan Rogers joined Chelsea in a £117million deal from Aston Villa.

Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson also completed moves for fees of at least £100million this summer.

The Athletic have also reported that PSG boss Luis Enrique only wants “committed” players in his squad next season, with suggestions that anyone who doesn’t want to be at the club may not get any minutes.

As a result, this could hint at a potential repeat of what happened before Isak became a Liverpool player last summer.

Liverpool eventually agreed a £125million deal with Newcastle on deadline day, but only after several weeks of speculation that resulted in Isak not featuring in any pre-season or Premier League matches for the Magpies before his departure. The striker wasn't fit to start after making the move.

Isak went on to feature just 22 times for Liverpool in his first campaign for the club, and didn’t make his first start for the club until September 17 against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
