# Dominik Szoboszlai contract latest after Liverpool agreement claim made

The Reds opened talks with Szoboszlai's representatives earlier this year as they look to tie down the Hungary international to an extended contract and reward him for his progress since arriving from RB Leipzig for £60million three years ago.

Negotiations resumed a few weeks back between the two parties and the ECHO understands significant progress has subsequently been made.

And while nothing has thus far been signed, the expectation is Szoboszlai - who has two years remaining on his present deal - will shortly put pen to paper on a new, improved long-term contract.

The development will be a major boost to new Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola as he assesses his squad ahead of his first campaign in charge with question marks over a number of midfielders.

While Ryan Gravenberch signed a six-year contract earlier in the year, Curtis Jones has entered the last 12 months of his current deal and Wataru Endo is also poised to become a free agent next summer.

Similar to Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister is in the last two years of his contract but no talks have been held over a new deal amid continued speculation of interest from Real Madrid.
