Matheus Cunha's late goal against Fulham was just about enough to fend off any discourse over Michael Carrick's future during a prolonged international break, but all is certainly not well at Old Trafford. United have won just two of their opening seven games, they're already out of the Carabao Cup, and to make matters worse their potential star of the future is about to leave.

It's certainly been a tough start to the campaign. Well, it looked like it was until Manchester City showed everyone how bad things can be.

To get it, it's a simple one-two punch.

Once the bombshell news dropped that City had been found guilty of nearly all of the charges brought against them by the Premier League, talk of whether Carrick is the right man for United couldn't have been further from football fans' minds. United aren't used to being overshadowed by their local rivals when it comes to the news cycle, but they'll be delighted to sit in the background and watch on in this one.

The problem is that the giggling at City's expense will only last for so long and United need to get their house in order. Yes, the charges brought against City have brought some relief, but defeat against Tottenham on Saturday will instantly see the spotlight shine back on Carrick.

So, do you think Saturday is a must-win game for United? It still seems far too early to make any judgements, but Spurs have been dreadful this season and if United get beat at home to them it won't be a good look at all.
