# Schwartau call part of Clement

The highly-rated 20-year-old was left out of the squad at Bramall Lane for a 3-1 win as part of Philippe Clement’s masterplan to get City battle-hardened for the slog ahead.

“I need to create freshness because they are almost all young lads,” said the Belgian. “We don't have many Kenny McLean's in this squad who played the last five to 10 years almost all the games.

"It's a lot of young lads who still have to adapt to the Championship. The relentlessness of that, playing every three days at this intensity, for a lot of them is new.

“We had almost all the time last season 12 injured players. Most of them are back now, but they cannot come out of a situation of 10 months out, or six months out or three months out, and suddenly play all the games, because they are going to get injured again.

"So it's quite a puzzle still for the moment, but a puzzle that I enjoy because it is what is best for the club.

"Everybody in the squads understand it also, or they have to because everybody is in that role - even Kenny cannot play all the games all season - so one moment you need to rest them also, and that was the case with Oscar and was a good decision afterwards.”

Clement is a huge fan of Schwartau, but is not in a rush to turn him into a number 10, after he underlined his versatility across attacking areas already in his Carrow Road career.

“Oscar is for me a big talent at his age. What he produces already in the Championship, also not only with the ball, but also without the ball,” he said.

“The way he works for the team, the way he makes it difficult for opponents, so he's going to have a very important role for the rest of the season.

"He just needs to play where we put him because we're going to need him in different positions. We need this group without ego, without being busy with themselves.

“There's one thing good for everybody, and that's when we win games, and when we get good results, and when we can compete, and when we can get, at the end of the season, to where we want to get.”
