Philippe Clement now has three weeks to work on finding solutions before Norwich return to Championship action with a trip to table-toppers Swansea City. The international window does not provide a straightforward opportunity to do so, though, with 12 players initially expected to head away on duty.

That number is now likely to be reduced, with injuries to Ben Chrisene, Mo Toure and Kenny McLean against Bolton all casting doubt over their availability.

Chrisene had been due to join up with England Under-21s after impressing during the opening weeks of the season but was forced off late on with a shoulder injury.

Toure also suffered a shoulder problem, putting his planned return home to represent Australia in two friendlies against Brazil in serious doubt.

McLean, meanwhile, had been named in new Scotland boss Sebastien Pocognoli’s squad for four Nations League Group B1 fixtures before suffering an ankle injury inside the final 10 minutes against the Trotters.

There is another concern away from those heading off with their countries, with Clement revealing post-match that Papa Amadou Diallo is facing the prospect of another lengthy spell on the sidelines because of a quad problem.
