The Canaries have lost five of their opening eight Championship games, conceding 17 goals in the process, in a regressive trend that continued in an error-strewn 4-3 weekend defeat to Bolton.

Clement sparked a remarkable turnaround when he first arrived in November 2025 to lead City away from relegation danger.

The Belgian is confident there will be no repeat on his watch of a prolonged dip the other side of the international period.

“When I came in last season I saw a team where everything fell apart and everybody was doing things on their own for a while,” he said.

“I will not allow them to go to that again, and (Bolton) reminded me of that in some moments. The moments that we concede goals.

"We need to take the good conclusions about this game and this period, to stay calm in the heads and to be emotionally more in control when things don't go our way, and just to keep focused on what we have to do.

"The personnel will not change until January. So we know, and I believe also, in what these guys can do together.”

Clement was hailed as City’s saviour by many supporters for his epic Carrow Road salvage mission last season, but the head coach understood the boos at full-time from some sections of the fan base.

“We spoke a lot about synergy and sharing those amazing moments, and of course, fans are frustrated. I'm frustrated. The players are frustrated,” he said.

“There's nobody in this dressing room that is happy and goes home feeling like, ‘Ah, we just lost a game of football’. No, they're really concerned about everything. They're really involved in everything.

"Maybe that's also the reason that some players lost the control in their head and started to do different things, because they're so involved and they want to do good.

"There's no problem about this.

"This is a good dressing room, but a young dressing room where they need to in these moments learn to get the right reactions and to dig in together. Instead of everybody on his own island trying to put things right.”
