Ingelsson and Soumare have arrived from Sheffield Wednesday and SC Braga respectively, both adding size, athleticism and power to the Stoke City midfield.

Galbraith meanwhile, was an eye-catching big-money signing from Swansea City, brought into add the ingenuity and creativity in the middle of the park as Mark Robins overhauled his central midfield.

The trio played half an hour together in the 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra before Soumare went off with what will hopefully be only a minor inconvenience. With Ben Pearson, Tatsuki Seko and Tomas Rigo also in the mix, Robins has plenty of combinations in the middle of the park.

But everyone loves a new toy, or three, and all eyes will be on the new recruits.

“It's been brilliant,” Galbraith told The Sentinel. “I think we all sort of complement each other in different ways, and the three of us, we're sort of forming that connection there. Not just the three of us, but obviously as a team as well, it's been good.

“In teams you're going to have different qualities, so for us as a team, it's about having each other's quality, but mixing them together to try and get a better outcome.

“What I will bring to the team is maybe different from other players, but as long as we're all on the same page hopefully it mixes well.

"I'm going to give it absolutely 100%, hopefully create things, score goals, assists, that's one thing that I can definitely improve on higher up the pitch.”

The idea behind spending what could be £10million on Galbraith is that he will play far more midfield than he did last season – where he was pressed into service as a right back in many games.

But he admits he does not come to the bet365 Stadium as the finished product. “I think you can improve every day, the intensity we're playing with, mixed with the coaching, I still have a lot to improve on, and I think this is the perfect place to improve.

“The intensity's been very high, but I think if you want to be successful, the standards intensity have to be right up there, which here it's been a very high standard, so hopefully we can just keep raising it, going into the first game of the season.”

The transfer window is open, the rumours are flying, and everyone is talking about who Stoke City will sign and who they might sell.
