Arsenal look to RB Leipzig transfer plan after Christos Tzolis injury blow

Football London · Mark Wakefield

Tzolis was one of the four new additions made to Mikel Arteta’s squad by Arsenal, arriving in a £34million deal that was agreed with Club Brugge, with Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa and Illan Meslier all moving to the Emirates Stadium.

The forward has made an impressive start to life at Arsenal, but the Gunners will be facing a nervous wait to discover the full extent of the injury he suffered while on international duty.

Tzolis suffered a suspected hamstring injury earlier this week, and football.london has reported that there is an expectation that he will face between 15 and 20 days on the sidelines in recovery.

Arsenal are reluctant to put an exact timeframe on when Tzolis will return to full fitness, and will assess the forward when he returns to London Colney.

In the meantime, though, reports are emerging that Arsenal are already looking to the transfer market to sign a player who operates in the same position as Tzolis.

Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also reported to have joined the race to sign the Norway international in the New Year, while there is also said to be interest in Italy from Inter Milan, Napoli, Juventus and AC Milan.

The report goes on to claim that Arsenal are showing the strongest interest in signing Nusa, and are already believed to be putting together their first bid, which would be in the region of €40million (£34million).

Arsenal were heavily linked with signing another new forward in the summer, depsite already adding Tzolis to their squad.

Following the departures of Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, the Gunners were linked with bringing in a wide forward, but did not get any more signings over the line.

It remains to be seen if the interest in Nusa is genuine, and if so, whether or not Arsenal will pursue a deal when the January transfer window opens.
