Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr stance after Yan Diomande agreement and Arsenal links

The Gunners are keen to strengthen their attack before the start of the new season. They had targeted a move for Margan Rogers, but had to move on to alternatives following his £117 million transfer to Chelsea.

They are now looking at Vinicius, who would be a statement signing. Real are reportedly demanding a fee of £137m for the 26-year-old, who has one year remaining on his contract.

Talks over a new deal at Real are reported to have stalled, but it seems that the forward remains in the club's long-term vision.

TEAMtalk reports that manager Jose Mourinho has outlined how he plans for Diomande to play alongside Vinicius in the Real Madrid line-up. The Portuguese coach is said to have convinced the winger to make the move due to his long-term vision of him being a key part of the attack.

Arsenal are one of the clubs to have also shown an interest in Diomande, but Real look to have won the race. There are some contrasting reports over whether a fee has been agreed with RB Leipzig for the winger, with TEAMtalk suggesting that an agreement has been reached.

Paris Saint-Germain had looked the favourites to sign the Ivory Coast international, but after spending weeks working on a deal, they were unable to reach an agreement with Leipzig.

Sky Sport Germany reports that the French giants have pulled out of the race, and Real Madrid are 'increasingly confident' of completing the transfer, with a verbal agreement between club and player.

A move for Vinicius for Arsenal will send shockwaves through world football. Speaking two years ago about being in the mix for the best players in the world, Mikel Arteta gave an unequivocal answer.

"Why not? If we want to be the best team, then you need to have the best players, that's for sure,” he said.

"When there is a player of that calibre, we always have to be in that conversation. But it looks in a different way, that's what I would say."
