Blackburn Rovers

Balazs Toth insists Blackburn Rovers 'deserve better' than to be fighting relegation as they aim to improve next season.

Michael O'Neill's side secured their Championship status with a 3-1 win at Bramall Lane, ending any uncertainty over the prospect of relegation. It has been a difficult campaign, as Toth recognises, but six wins in their last 14 games has seen them safe.

Toth reflected on a great feeling at Bramall Lane after a sublime first half in which Rovers scored three times without reply.

"It's an unbelievable feeling," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Everyone is happy now. It's been a tough season for us. We were under a lot of pressure and now it's a good feeling that we don't have to decide anything on the final day.

"The team was unbelievable today and in the last couple of weeks.

"I didn't have many saves to make. I don't remember many games where we have been up 3-0 so it was a great game for us.

"It's very important, we have spoken about it in the changing room. It didn't matter how but we needed to stay up and we did it. We are grateful for the fans, who have been amazing this season.

"Let's hope we can celebrate together after the final day. We know what the club means to them."

Having missed out on a play-off place at the same ground 12 months ago, fighting relegation was not the hope for Toth's second season at Rovers.

He hopes that the club can build on their foundations with some good additions to challenge at the right end of the table.

"This club deserves more than this, definitely," he said.

"Hopefully, we can build something bigger. We can dream about more because this club and these fans deserve more than this.

"Hopefully, next season will be much better and we can fight for bigger things. We have a much better team than results show, a few good signings and I think we can be much, much better.

"We have some really good players who can play really good football so we need to try and show it."
