It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald. THE Cherries deserved their 4-0 victory over Lincoln as Marco Rose was pleased with a dominant victory, as he praised his side’s efforts.

Ryan Christie netted a hat-trick and Rayan added a fourth goal in stoppage time to see Bournemouth cruise into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

It was Rose’s first victory at the club, and he was pleased to get a first win under his belt.

He told the Daily Echo: “Every win feels good, and we were waiting for it.

“Four games now, and we deserved it quite well with a really, really good performance for 94, 95 minutes.

“A difficult to play opponent, that's what we saw in the games we analysed, many long balls, first balls, second balls, tall guys, but we defended everything on a top level.

“I think we gave one chance away and had 35 shots, it's really impressive, and stayed focused, were mostly clean in our possession game, mostly, not always, but mostly were very dominant and yeah, I'm really pleased with the performance and the result.”

Bournemouth have dropped points by conceding late goals in their three league games so far, but scored twice in the closing stages against Lincoln to hammer home their advantage.

Asked if he was feeling confident heading into the final ten minutes that his team would be able to see out the victory, this time with a two-goal advantage, Rose said: “Yeah, and today we scored in this time!

“So again, I said it after every game, I think it's up to us to win a game, to have a clean sheet, to gain confidence.

“That's what we did today, and I'm really pleased with the focus we kept for 94 minutes. We never left or lacked in attitude or in effort, and that was very important today.”
