Moises Caicedo kept his sights firmly on a Champions League place as he prepared for a six-pointer against his old club.

Chelsea are now just one point clear of Albion after they lost 1-0 at home to Manchester United.

Caicedo, who narrowly avoided a ten-yellows ban for the game at the Amex, will be one of several ex-Seagulls in the Blues ranks on Tuesday evening.

Chelsea have now lost four league games in a row without scoring for the first time in 28 years. Not since 1912 have they endured a longer streak.

Caicedo said: “For sure everybody is disappointed because we wanted to win.

“We created a lot of chances but we couldn’t get the result.

“But we are looking forward because we have five games left and five games to win, to try to get in the Champions League.”

Chelsea largely dominated against a United side who brought little threat besides the goal, but there was a lack of belief about the Blues.

Caicedo, who was a huge favourite with Albion fans before his move to Stamford Bridge in 2023, added: “We had the opportunities to score but we didn’t have the luck.

“Other things were good, we fought until the end to get the three points. Everyone is disappointed but we are looking forward.”

Chelsea have held up Caicedo’s decision to add a year to his contract, which previously ran until 2032, as a triumph for the club.
