Fabian Hurzeler says Albion players have licence to attack – as long as team-mates cover for them.
The head coach believes his side's flexible style is causing opponents plenty of unexpected problems.
And the result has been an eight-game charge into the top six which has brought 19 points, four clean sheets and eight different scorers.
Ferdi Kadioglu became the 18th member of the squad to score in the Premier League this season when he set the ball rolling at home to Chelsea.
His fellow full-back Mats Wieffer was the most recent new addition to the list before that with his double strike at Burnley.
Albion and Arsenal both have 18 different Prem scorers with the Seagulls’ tally increasing to 21 when cup ties are included.
Kadioglu pounced at an early corner and later had two efforts saved by Robert Sanchez as he joined attacking moves.
Hurzeler said: “We had Mats Wieffer two games ago where he played against Burnley and scored two goals.
“We want to have players who have freedom to attack, create a dynamic from behind.
“By making deep runs, by joining the opponents’ box.
“That is what we always want to do. They have freedom to attack if other players can organise the best defence.
“Today the goal was more after a set-piece. But what we always know is that he has a good finish. That he has a quite a good shot.
“I think he showed it in the second half, when the Chelsea goalkeeper had two big saves.
“That makes us in general a very unpredictable team because we have so many goalscorers.
“It is quite important to have this flexibility, that everyone has this desire to score.
“That everyone wants to score and attack the opponents’ box. That is very crucial to our game.
“I am happy for the team, Happy for Ferdi.”
Albion have the same number of scorers as Arsenal despite having 12 goals fewer than the title-chasers.

Meanwhile Danny Welbeck has moved to outright fifth place in the Prem goalscorers' chart with 13, one behind Joao Pedro and two adrift of Antoine Semenyo as Erling Haaland (24) and Igor Thiago (21) set the pace.
Welbeck has regained his status as top-scoring Englishman after Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest briefly joined him on 12 goals with a hat-trick against Burnley.
Bart Verbruggen has nine clean sheets, a tally bettered by only four other goalkeepers.
