Albion under-21s beat English, Dutch, Scottish and Japanese opposition to secure another title.

They defeated Yokohama F Marinos 2-0 in the final of the Hong Kong FC sevens to cap two busy days.

Tyler Silsby and player-of-the-tournament Jesse Middleton were on target to secure the trophy.

Success came eight days after they beat Manchester United at the Amex to become Premier League champions.

Albion goalkeeper Lorenz Ferdinand said: “The club values the tournament very much, and there’s pressure from within to win here.

“The gaffer (Shannon Ruth) demands a lot, and we expect a lot from ourselves.”

Tyler Silsby teed up a Shane Nti tap-in as Albion opened with a 1-0 win over hosts Hong Kong.

Kofi Shaw and Joe Belmont put them in charge against Singapore, who replied with a fine strike by Joe Claridge.

However Singapore had various goalkeeping mishaps and Belmont completed a hat-trick with Silsby also on target as it finished 5-1.

The group phase was wrapped up by a 3-0 win over Leeds as Nti (two) and Oriola scored.

Robertson and Nti were the quarter-final scorers in a 2-0 win over Rangers which also saw Ferdinand make a fine save.

A highly-competitive semi-final against AZ Alkmaar saw Robertson (penalty) and Sean Keogh net in a come-from-behind 2-1 victory.

It was a sweet result for the Albion over the side who beat them in last year’s final.

Robertson said: “We talked before that game about wanting to get one over them.

“We understand how to play this format and where to position players, and we have a lot of talent.”
