Every Championship signing so far as window opens for Bristol City

Bristol Post · Daniel Carter

The Robins and clubs across English football can now, officially, add to their squads after the window opened in the EFL and the Premier League on Monday, June 15. Of course, there is no real need to rush any business, with deadline day - September 1 - the best part of two and a half months away.

While it has been confirmed that Sinclair Armstrong will leave for Göztepe when the Turkish window opens later this month, the only other business of note has been the confirmation that each of Mark Sykes, Sam Morsy and Harry Cornick will depart as free agents.

When it comes to incomings, Billy O'Neill will join the Reds this summer - his move from Bray Wanderers was announced back in early April and he's expected to be a part of the Under-21s group. Outside of the teenager's imminent arrival, though, nothing has yet been confirmed at Ashton Gate.

The same, however, can't be said when it comes to some other Championship sides.

Wolves are one of the clubs to have completed the most incoming business so far, with the Molineux club wasting no time in strengthening their playing ranks, despite the fact that they have made a surprise change in the dugout.

No sooner had Wolves confirmed the signings of England international Kieran Trippier and Mexico forward Raul Jimenez than they announced that Rob Edwards had been sacked as head coach, with Cesar Peixoto reportedly set to replace the former Luton Town boss in the dugout.

While that news appears to have split the club's fanbase, Wolves' early business appears impressive. Trippier played 37 times for Newcastle United across the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup last term, before leaving St James' Park at the end of his contract.

Jimenez scored nine Premier League goals in 36 games for Fulham last term, and has already opened his account at this summer's World Cup, having headed home Mexico's second in their opening-game win over South Africa.

Wolves have also made Ladislav Krejčí's loan permanent. He played 32 times in all competitions last term.

Like the relegated Premier League side, Southampton have also made three signings already this summer, with all three deals seeing former loanees make their stays at St Mary's permanent.

Cyle Larin was another temporary addition to Tonda Eckert's ranks in the winter of 2026. The 31-year-old striker scored nine goals in 22 appearances in all competitions, a tally he will be looking to add to next term having signed an initial two-year deal with Southampton.

George Long's impact at St Mary's was slightly less eye-catching, as the 32-year-old made just one FA Cup appearance after joining on loan from Norwich City last summer. He will, though, remain the Saints' back-up stopper having made the move from Carrow Road permanent.

Having won promotion back to the Championship after seven years away via the play-offs, Bolton Wanderers have made two early additions with the intention of strengthening Steven Schumacher's options in the second tier.

Following the expiry of his contract at Rangers, Ben Davies has agreed a two-year deal with the Trotters. Davies, whose previous clubs include Preston North End, Liverpool and Birmingham City, spent last term on loan with Oxford United, playing 10 times for the U's in the Championship as they were relegated.

Bolton's other piece of business also saw them add from north of the border. Schumacher's side will pay Kilmarnock an undisclosed compensation package after it was confirmed that David Watson will make the move to the Toughsheet Community Stadium upon the expiry of his contract.

Swansea City have also already made two signings. Leo Walta's winter loan move from Sirius has been made permanent after he played 10 times for Vitor Matos' side in the second half of the campaign, while Stephen Welsh has agreed a two-year contract - with the option for a further season - upon the expiry of his deal with Celtic.

The rest of the business completed, so far, across England's second tier has exclusively seen clubs turn loan moves into permanent transfers.

Having played 33 times for Blackburn Rovers whilst on loan from Yverdon, Moussa Baradji has signed a long-term deal at Ewood Park. Despite Burnley's relegation from the Premier League, Florentino Luis has joined the Clarets from Benfica on a permanent basis.

Jeremy Sarmiento will remain on Middlesbrough's books, with his switch from Brighton now a permanent one. The winger played 20 times for Kim Hellberg's side, including a brief cameo from the bench as Boro were beaten by Hull City in the Championship play-off final.

Stoke City, in their retained list, announced that Milan Smit has signed a four-year contract following a spell on loan from Go Ahead Eagles, while Cardiff City have been bolstered by the permanent addition of Nathan Trott. The goalkeeper spent last season in South Wales on loan from Copenhagen.
