Bim Pepple leads the way but Argyle are spreading goals around

The Pilgrims have netted 14 times this season - with 10 goals in six League One games, plus four more in a couple of Carabao Cup matches.

Those goals have been shared among nine players, with Bim Pepple leading the way on three after he was on target with Argyle's third goal in their 3-0 league win against Barnsley at Home Park on Saturday.

Xavier Amaechi, Will Evans and Oli Irow, the loan signing from Tottenham Hotspur, have all scored twice, while there has been one goal apiece for Ronan Curtis, Alex Hartridge, Julio Pleguezuelo, Caleb Watts and Harvey White.

Cleverley said: "It's really good we are a team that has different avenues of scoring. Set plays is an avenue, direct football like you saw from the kick-off (against Barnsley) is an avenue, controlled possession in their half is an avenue.

"Then quality and combinations like you saw at Wycombe is a different avenue. We are a hard team to prepare against to defend and that's because we have a spread of personnel who can score the goals and a spread of avenues to get them."

Irow opened the scoring against Barnsley after only 21 seconds with a stunning strike, before Curtis made it 2-0 with his first goal of the campaign with a close range header after goalkeeper Rogan Ravenhill fumbled a long throw-in into the penalty area.

Cleverley said: "There is big competition in those wide areas with Xav and with Caleb Watts. The two players who have the shirts (Irow and Curtis) know they need to produce performances, and wide players that is goals and assists first and foremost.

"Ronan brings a lot of experience and quality, good crossing ability, and he's outstanding in the air. It doesn't surprise he scored one with his head."

Pepple is set to make his 50th appearance for Argyle in the away league game against Blackpool on Saturday, following his transfer from Luton Town for an undisclosed fee in July 2025.

The Canadian striker has an impressive return of 21 goals from his 49 games, which are made up of 32 starts and 17 substitute appearances.
