Coventry City transfer updates on Tomori, Loftus-Cheek and Dennis

Reported Coventry City transfer targets Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were in pre-season action for AC Milan this weekend as the Italian giants travelled to the UK to take on Celtic.

The England internationals, who are also club teammates and close friends off the pitch, are no longer part of new boss Ruben Amorim’s plans and owner Gerry Cardinale hopes to earn more than €30 million from their sales, it is claimed in the Italian press.

The arrival of Gila from Lazio for €30 million has pushed Tomori further down the pecking order, it is claimed. The former Chelsea player travelled with the squad to Glasgow for the friendly against Celtic today (July 25), but it is reported by Calcio Mercato that “he remains constantly in contact with his phone on, waiting for interesting updates from his agents.”

It is said that Tomori is attracting interest from Coventry, Hull, West Ham and Newcastle, and he is waiting for the right offer, “both financially and in terms of sporting project,” before saying goodbye to Milan as the player seeks a fresh challenge.

Loftus-Cheek’s situation is, according to milanreports, different to Tomori’s regarding the club’s decision to put him on the market.

The midfielder is said to be convinced he can earn a place under Amorim and would have no problem staying until the end of his contract, which has another year to run.

The report concludes that at the moment, the player is “not pushing his agents to find him a way out, and this could represent a setback for Milan’s plans.”

Another widely reported City target, Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis, has, been left out of the starting line-ups as Turkish side Göztepe continue their pre-season preparations in Slovenia.

According to Goztepelilercom, the club is “experiencing hot transfer developments,” with the possibility of departure for Juan Silva and Dennis, who have caught the attention of European clubs, “growing stronger with each passing day.”

It is said that head coach Stanimir Stoilov has preferred “not to risk” his two star players who have received offers.

Dennis, whom the report says, “England Premier League side Coventry City wants to add to its squad,” have been “placed under protection against injury risk” in the friendly matches.

Stoilov’s decision not to start either player in the three preparation games and to give them limited minutes has increased comments that the transfer could gain official status in a short time, the report concludes.
