Derby to miss eight players for West Brom clash amid 'huge' Craig Forsyth blow

Derby County face West Bromwich Albion tomorrow night as they face their next assignment in the Championship.

Having lost to West Ham United at the weekend, Derby are back on familiar territory at Pride Park where they will hope to register their first home win of the season.

Derby do have a number of players on the treatment table ahead of facing the Baggies, with Alex Mowatt facing his former employers for the first time since his move to the club in August.

Here is a rundown of the latest

The former Liverpool attacker will be missing for the game on Wednesday and the game against Birmingham City at the weekend. That is due to the fact that he suffered a heavy blow to the head in the defeat to West Ham and is undergoing the necessary concussion protocols.

"He's unfortunately got a concussion, so he won't be available now for the next couple of games, which is a blow to us," said John Eustace.

"It was great to get Rhian into two consecutive games, which he hasn't done for a long time. We're trying to build his fitness up for sure, so to lose him again for a couple of games is a blow, but it gives somebody else an opportunity."

The striker picked up a calf problem in the 2-2 draw with Cardiff City and missed both the Swansea defeat and the victory against Portsmouth in midweek.

He is likely to be out for another week or two.

The summer signing has a back injury and was left out of the defeat to West Ham United at the weekend.

The veteran defender had to come off in the second half of the win against Portsmouth and while the optics weren't great, the injury is not as severe as first feared.

Forsyth has had a scan of his knee and has seen a specialist to determine the type of surgery he will require. He is expected to be out for the next three or four months.

The skipper had to come off in the latter stages of the game against Swansea after taking a whack in the second half of the 3-0 defeat.

He did not make the win over Portsmouth and was sent for a scan to determine the extent of the damage. While the injury was not as bad as initially thought, he will be missing for the next month.

"Trav's going to be missing for probably 4 or 5 weeks," said Eustace. "It's not as bad as what we first feared, which is great news for us. It's another experienced player that can come back and help the team over the course of the season."

The full-back had to undergo minor back surgery and hasn't played since the 2-1 defeat to Norwich back in April.

He had been working hard on his recovery throughout the summer and took part in an open training session ahead of the first game of the season. He was named in the under-21s game against Hull City, but had to pull out of the game because of a hamstring injury.

The defender came off at half-time of the defeat to Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup with a calf problem. He was in a protective boot as a precaution, but subsequently missed the opening day loss to Charlton.

He missed the game against Cardiff and in the build-up to that game, Eustace revealed he would be missing for the next three months.

"I think he'll be out for 12 weeks so that's a huge blow," he said. "But it gives somebody else an opportunity to step up and do well.

"I think when you look at Patrick and Matt being out, they are two hugely influential players for us.

"But, again, it gives somebody else the opportunity. We try to create a no-excuse culture here, and whoever steps up will be ready.

"It's about the squad. It's always about the squad of players, and they'll roll their sleeves up and always give their best.

"Sometimes you might not get the results that you want, but over the course of the season, we'll be good with the group of players that we have."

Patrick Agyemang

The USA international ruptured his Achilles tendon in April in the win over Stoke City, which ruled him out of the World Cup and will keep him sidelined until December/January.

He is at Moor Farm working on his recovery and has done a lot of work in the summer. But understandably, Derby are not rushing the £5.8m striker who was a big hit at Pride Park last season. However, he is back on the grass as he steps up his recovery with his timeline still set for winter.
