Jack Robinson said it was "nice to be back" after making his Derby County debut and believes their defiance at Sheffield United will be needed at Millwall again this weekend.
The centre-back came off the bench at Bramall Lane for his first appearance since signing as a free agent and helped Derby secure a point after they played the last 30 minutes with 10 men.
It was Robinson's first competitive game since he played for Birmingham City last season, before he was released in the summer, leaving him as a free agent.
But Derby have turned to the former Sheffield United captain to help plug the gaps in the defence that have been hit hard by injuries, and the 33-year-old enjoyed his introduction to life at Pride Park.
"It was quite nice just taking a little bit of time off, especially when the season's on," he said. "Obviously, you get it in the summer, but never during the season. But you do start to get a bit itchy, and you do want to be back in somewhere, and I did say that a couple of days before Derby came up.
"I spoke to my agent and said I would like to be in somewhere as soon as possible, and then obviously this popped up, so it was perfect. And to be honest with you, when you've played loads of games, it's kind of just becomes the norm. I kind of took it as any other game. Obviously, I've got a lot of history there.
"But I played there (Sheffield United) last year, so you kind of get that sense of going back and it was more just about can I come on and try and see the game out and get some points because that's what I'm used to doing.
"It was nice to be back in and around it."
Derby now head to the New Den at the weekend as they look to secure only their second league win of the season and Robinson added: "It's another tough game. They will be putting in lots of crosses and we have lots of hard work to do. Obviously, we're going to miss Dion (Sanderson) as well with him getting sent off.
"But the lads showed out there exactly what they're about, and if we can produce that again, then we can definitely get a result there."
