Derby County v Oxford LIVE updates and team news from Pride Park

Derby Telegraph · Leigh Curtis

Defeat to Southampton last weekend has left John Eustace's side outsiders to clinch a place in the top six but they are refusing to give-up the chase as they approach the final four games of the season.

Standing in their way this afternoon are a struggling Oxford side who are fighting relegation at the bottom end of the table, although they have picked up significantly under new boss Matt Bloomfield.

But they cannot afford to drop points with the Us currently third from bottom in the table while Derby also need a win if they are to prolong their hope of catching those sides above them.

Derby do have some injury concerns and some significant ones at that with Bobby Clark the latest player to be on the treatment table after suffering a hamstring injury.

It comes after Patrick Agyemang was ruled out for nine months with a ruptured Achilles while Rhian Brewster is also out after undergoing knee surgery.

We will have all the team news for you as it breaks for you at 11.15 and then that will be followed by all the action and the goals as they go in.

New Updates18th Apr14:38 BSTAll overDerby win 1-0 and they are still hanging in there in the chase for the top six.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr14:20 BSTIn the final minutesDerby should see this game out. Been comfortable and always felt like that've had another gear to go to.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr14:08 BSTInto the final 10 minutesAnd Derby are still leading.

Leigh Curtis‌18th Apr14:02 BSTLeicesterDerby fans having a sing-song at the expense of Leicester who trail at Portsmouth. A huge game for the Foxes, but they now look like they are heading to League One.

It's been a dreadful season on and off the pitch.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr13:58 BSTBig chanceA rare mistake from Matt Clarke ends with Kozak going through on goal. He has support from Jin-Woo, but opts to shoot and miscues horribly.

Jin-Woo is furious.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr13:44 BSTWowSzmodics goes close at one end after a terrific pass from Murkin. Then Oxford have their best chance of the game when Peart Harris runs through, but Szmodics makes a brilliant tackle.

Lankshear then messes up the rebound.

Leigh Curtis‌18th Apr13:15 BSTBy his standardsBanel is tripped on the byline and Ward takes the free-kick to the back post where Morris is unmarked. He gets underneath the header which loops over the bar,

It's a good chance and his reaction said it all as he screams in frustration.

By his standards he should have hit the target at least.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr13:10 BSTGame has hit a lullOxford committing a few niggly fouls to stop Derby in their tracks.

Morris' strength is too much for some of the Us' players and Ward has just been dropped on the far side.

He has a free-kick which is just midway in the Oxford half which he swings into the area and there is Matt Clarke to plant a header wide of the post.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr12:59 BSTDerby come againBanel finds Murkin who plays a cute little return pass to the winger, but his effort is blocked.

Derby fully in control and Oxford have to come out a bit now because they cannot afford to drop points.

Leigh Curtis‌18th Apr12:55 BSTWOWThat is some goal. Oxford have a corner which Derby clear and Banel nips in on the edge of the box, rides a challenge and runs the full length of the pitch.

He has support, but he goes it alone and rifles into the bottom corner having cut inside past another two Oxford defenders.

The finish is emphatic and Pride Park has lift off.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr12:44 BSTCornerBrereton Diaz and Ward have formed a good understanding on the right-hand side and there's a good move as the ball is played into Travis who finds Szmodics who then plays in Ward.

His cross is aimed towards Morris, but it falls to Murkin who thrashes it back into the area, but it takes a deflection and goes out for a corner.

From that, Oxford counter as Banel is brushed aside by Mills. He enters into the area, but Travis snuffs out the danger.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr12:40 BSTThat's the wrong decisionCan't quite work out why that's a foul. Long's body shape was all wrong when challenging Morris for the ball and just had hold of him.

Derby's forward tumbles to the ground and you think he's going to give him a free-kick, but it goes the other way.

He's got that one wrong.

Leigh Curtis‌18th Apr12:37 BSTGood moveDerby produce their first attack as Clarke pierces through the lines with a clever pass into the feet of Brereton Diaz who then finds Murkin.

Banel drops into a good position in the area and is picked out by the left-back but the winger's shot is blocked.

Was a decent move and good position from Brereton Diaz who just picked up space behind Oxford's midfield.

Travis has just tried to get Derby moving down my side of the pitch but Donley makes sure the move stops by leaving a late tackle on the midfielder.

The referee blows and it's a foul. But it's not a yellow card offence.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr12:30 BSTWe are under wayGlorious sunshine, the fans are in good voice and it's a perfect day for football.

Leigh Curtis‌18th Apr12:04 BSTThat was some team

Leigh Curtis18th Apr11:38 BSTGood to seeNice to have Zetterstrom back in the team. Been a tough few months for him, but being out there today will do him the power of good.

And with the World Cup just around the corner, it's important too.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr11:37 BSTOxford team

Leigh Curtis‌18th Apr11:18 BSTTeam newsZetterstrom returns....as well as Murkin and Brereton Diaz.

Leigh Curtis18th Apr11:00 BSTGood morningAn early kick-off today and a big game for both ends of the table. Derby need a win to keep up the chase with the top six and Oxford are slugging it out at the bottom of the table.

Neither side can really afford to drop points so I would expect a quite open game today but then I could be completely wrong.

Team news with you in a bit.
