Hull City rekindle interest in top transfer target Ali-Cho as deal agreed

Daily Mail · Barry Cooper

Hull City have rekindled their interest in Nice winger Mohamed Ali-Cho, and could wrap up a deal in the near future after a breakthrough in talks.

City thought they had struck a deal earlier in the transfer window, but pulled out and instead moved on to other targets, one of which was Pablo Garcia of Real Betis.

Owner Acun Ilicali rekindled talks with the French Ligue 1 side over the weekend, and is understood to have agreed a deal thought to be in the region of 13m euros (£11m), which could rise to 16m euros (£13.7m) if a number of triggers are met.

Nice had initially wanted around £20m, and because of that, City eventually walked away from the deal despite believing they were close to getting it over the line, but the French club have since returned to the negotiating table, with the Premier League club's patience paying off.

The French winger is now due to undergo a medical, and it’s hoped the move for the 22-year-old could be wrapped up in the next couple of days. Hull Live understands he will sign a five-year deal in East Yorkshire, though it's not expected to be done in time for him to be involved at Stoke City on Tuesday night, assuming there are no late hitches.

Ali-Cho, who can also operate up front, is thought to be City's first-choice winger. It's expected he will fill one of the forward roles the club wanted to fill before the transfer window closes on Tuesday, week at 11pm. As it stands, City have one other striker target with talks ongoing.

Meanwhile, talks continue with Deportivo La Coruna over a move for Yeremay Hernandez. While City face stiff competition, the Tigers remain hopeful of being able to strike a deal for the forward.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are on the cusp of confirming a new, improved contract for manager Sergej Jakirovic. City have agreed a host of new deals following promotion to the Premier League, including Regan Slater and John Egan.
