Jakirovic makes eight changes for Hull City's Carabao Cup clash with Sunderland

The Tigers are in the north east this evening to try and book a spot in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup and the head coach has gone strong.

Lewie Coyle, Nobel Mendy and Lucas Gourna-Douath are the three players who remain in the side from Saturday's draw with Aston Villa, with Mendy and Gourna-Douath in need of all the minutes they can get their hands on.

Dillion Phillips steps in to play between the sticks, while Lucas Herrington and Matt Targett get starts in the back line after their summer moves to East Yorkshire. Given his history of playing for Newcastle United, Targett might not be too warmly received by the locals.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl and the fit again Matt Crooks come into the middle of the park and it's fair to assume Crooks will be the most advanced of the trio.

It's an exciting front three, with Mohamed-Ali Cho, Sorba Thomas and Robinio Vaz get their first starts for the Tigers.

Joe Gelhardt is fit again and he's been named on the bench against the club he spent half a season on loan with earlier in his career. Christos Mouzakitis is also named on the bench and he'll hope to pick up his first minutes for the club. Interestingly, Oscar Zambrano and Kieran Dowell have been named on the bench despite being left of City's 25-man Premier League squad.
