Farke and 49ers given overwhelming vote of transfer confidence by Leeds fans

It has been nearly a week since the transfer window closed and Leeds United fans have had time to reflect on their club’s summer business.

Seven players have been signed and more than £85million was splashed amid a net spend of around £60m. Two attackers, three defenders and two goalkeepers were acquired and all seem to have raised the ceiling of the squad judging by the first few fixtures.

Club record £40m signing James Trafford and £34m Tarik Muharemovic will be long-term regulars while Nico Elvedi could soon become that too. Harry Wilson was expected to be a dead-cert starter but has been benched for the last two games.

In time, he is expected to stabilise once he has acclimatised to Leeds’ way of playing. Deadline day signings Melvin Bard and Jean-Matteo Bahoya could make their debuts against Chelsea in midweek.

Michael Zetterer might do too, the goalkeeper perhaps allowing Trafford a rest from League Cup duty. He is set for limited game time as it is, so Farke may wish to ensure the German gets a run-out when it is feasible for him to do so.

A giant 93% chose either ‘very happy’ or ‘fairly happy’. A majority of 52% selected ‘very happy’, perhaps aided by the double deadline day swoop that got over the line.

A lesser, but still notable, 41% chose ‘fairly happy’. The overriding concern from fans who have voiced their thoughts has been the lack of a new back-up striker.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was always due to remain the firm number one pick but many supporters are fearful of how much Leeds could struggle if the number nine is sidelined for a sustained period of time. Lukas Nmecha himself also has an injury history.

This issue may also account for the 5% who voted ‘not sure’ and the 1% who selected ‘unhappy’ and ‘very unhappy’.

But the undeniable overriding feeling from the majority of the fanbase - at this early stage, anyway - is that the summer transfer work was a job well done.
