LIVE EVENT ENDEDUpdated 11 hours agoWhat Daniel Farke said on Chelsea, Leeds United cup hope and Harry WilsonRead what the Leeds United boss has to say ahead of tomorow's League Cup trip to ChelseaCommentsSportIsaac Johnson Leeds United reporterDaniel Farke will be here shortly to preview Leeds United's League Cup trip to Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

Leeds have not played Chelsea in the competition since 2012 and across all four meetings, Leeds have failed to win once. This is the first time Leeds play away at the Blues in the League Cup since 1969.

Farke is expected to rotate his team and therefore debuts could be in store for Jean-Matteo Bahoya and Melvin Bard, who both joined on deadline day. Michael Zetterer could also potentially make his bow.

Meanwhile, the boss will likely give an update on Daniel James. The winger complained of back problems in the warm-up of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Aside from Joe Rodon - out for two months - there are any other previously known injury concerns.

CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday12:03 BSTJames injuries over past yearWas important that we had a proper pre-season. I liked his performances. Setbacks not good for his CV but I think the good scan results will do him confidence that his body is good.We can't risk any injuries so we have to prepare in the most professional way. That includes not sitting on the bus for too long!CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday12:01 BSTFacing AlonsoI know what he likes to do. You have to keep in mind that he has world class players. Quite common that when theyre new they take the cup competitions very seriously.Style he likes to play is well prepared.CommentsIsaac Johnson‌Today11:59 BSTGudmundssonNot surprised that he did well but wasn;t sure he could play the full 90 minutes. It's good to have him back.CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:59 BSTWilsonSometimes you need time to adapt to your surroundings. Similar but slightly different vs Fulham. Was in starting XI vs Forest. He is always hoping to step up. We have many games where he will play.Overall a good path - not there 100% just needs to adapt and we are confident he will adapt.CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:57 BSTContractFarke said he won't speak on it for now.

CommentsIsaac Johnson‌Today11:54 BSTDeadline day signingsSkills and French language. Melvin still has to step his English language a little bit! Matteo - During first training sessions, very pacey guy and brave. Needs time to adapt. Possible there will be some debuts.CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:53 BSTCoping with press from defence. In the build up we always want to be brave and break the pressing. We want to be hard to predict.CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:49 BSTChelseaKnow Xabi from time in Germany, Played against him twice in Germany. Did amazing job at Leverkusen. Last away game at Arsenal was difficult, not too far away from taking something away.Too early to see his handwriting but normally very flexible. Can play with different base formations. We'll have to be prepared for difficult game. When I judge their offence, not many teams who have such a quality.CommentsIsaac Johnson‌Today11:48 BSTCarabao Cup priorityWe try to win it, quickest way to Europe. Not favourites to win it, we know it. PL takes priority. We will have to rotate a bit more but we want to be at our best.CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:47 BSTFarke on team newsRodon has a long term injury. Little Q over James, some issues with back and hamstring vs Brighton. But scans are good, Individual session yesterday. Carefully optimistic.CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:42 BSTFarke here soonWon't be too long now

CommentsIsaac Johnson‌Today11:40 BSTPossible agenda itemsLeeds injuries including JamesContractTaking on Chelsea - and revenge for FA Cup semi-finalPossible debutsCommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:36 BSTWilson's start to life at LeedsHarry Wilson’s benching for the last two Premier League games is not something many Leeds United fans foresaw when he became the first summer signing.

In one sense, his benching is a positive; it shows that the ceiling of the squad has risen and that there is competition for places. Albeit, it is also true that Wilson was brought in to help with that.

It is worth noting that while Wilson has played as an attacking midfielder before, the last four seasons at Fulham saw him predominantly play as a right winger - a not-too dissimilar role but certainly not the same.

CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:25 BSTPossible debuts? It seems more likely that deadline day arrivals Melvin Bard and Jean-Matteo Bahoya get their first taste of action in a Leeds shirt today than on on Monday vs Newcastle.

Farke has already hinted that there will be rotation and the pair have had a week to bed into life at Leeds now, having been named on the bench at Brighton.

Michael Zetterer could also get his debut, depending on Farke's thinking with giving James Trafford a rest.

CommentsIsaac Johnson‌Today11:16 BSTDan James minor concernDaniel Farke hopes Daniel James will be fine to feature against Chelsea in Wednesday’s League Cup tie after reporting issues with his back over the weekend.

The Leeds United winger, who did not get off the bench against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, felt discomfort in the area during the warm-up at the Amex Stadium.

"I just hope it has to do with the travel or whatever, and it’s not an injury," said Farke.

CommentsIsaac JohnsonToday11:13 BSTWelcomeLeeds United are back in action against an arch enemy tomorrow, with the Whites travelling to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the third round of the League Cup.

The Whites went unbeaten against the Blues last season, memorably beating them at Elland Road before drawing away in February.

The League Cup is not top of Leeds' agenda and Daniel Farke is expected to rotate his team. At the same time, Farke will wish to keep the momentum of his unbeaten start going.

It will be a tough test but one that could tell us a lot about the spirit and true depth of this Leeds squad.
