Leicester City confirm Conor Chaplin transfer as contract length revealed

Leicester City have announced the signing of attacker Conor Chaplin on a free transfer, with the 29-year-old signing a three-year contract.

Chaplin was released by Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town last month after five years. He helped the Tractor Boys earn back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.

After keeping Portsmouth in the Championship last season, Chaplin has joined City ahead of their League One campaign this term. Chaplin has been a player that City have kept tabs on all summer and seem to have beat Championship side Lincoln City to his signature.

“I’m very excited to be here," he said. "Leicester City is a massive Club with a brilliant fanbase, which has been obvious to me every time I’ve competed against them.

"I’m extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to play for this great Club, and I will give everything, every day, to achieve what we set out to. I’ve had some great experiences in my career so far, but there is a lot more I want to achieve.

“I like to play with an all-in attitude, energy, and a desire to help the team in any way I can. I’m looking forward to showing the supporters what I can bring.

"I can’t wait to meet the lads, get out on the training pitch with the Manager and his staff to help this team as much as I can.”

Chaplin scored 26 goals in his last campaign in the third tier, playing as a right-side attacking midfielder. He scored another 13 to help Ipswich finish in the top promotion places alongside Leicester in 2024.

The forward is Russell Martin's first signing of the summer and is set to make his first outing for the Foxes at Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.

City continue their pre-season preparations in Spain next week with friendlies against Cadiz and Malaga. They conclude their summer campaign with a friendly against Genoa at the King Power Stadium before taking on Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup first round.

It's crunch time for Leicester City as they face a serious rebuilding process in League One. The transfer window is open and we will see players heading in and out of the King Power turnstiles.
