Leicester City talent continues to shine, horror debut and shock manager sacking

Leicester City have eight players out on loan across England and Europe this season and all of them have different personal objectives to fulfil.

Following their relegation to League One, City have benefitted from the loan market by welcoming Sammy Braybrooke, Jayden Joseph and Will Alves into the first team on the back of loan spells in the English Football League.

Throughout the window, players at different times of their career have left the Foxes on loan across the Championship, League Two, non-league and Greece. Some players have left with the expectation of returning to the King Power Stadium and possibly breaking into the first team, while others simply departed for a new start after two relegations.

Loans manager, Steve Morison, has been busy throughout the summer in identifying the ideal clubs for each player. We're going to keep an eye on them all, including the ones who appear almost certain to leave City at the end of the season.

Here's what happened to all eight Leicester loan stars this week, including another display by an exciting youngster..

The 18-year-old has started the season in red-hot form for Cheltenham and is already establishing himself as one of Steve Cotterill's main men. Playing on the right wing, Evans has scored three goals and assisted two in five League Two matches.

After registering an assist in the 2-2 draw against Barnet at the end of August, Evans scored a brace in the Robins' 3-2 win over York City. Over the weekend, he was back creating goals for Charlie McCann against Grimsby Town.

The Foxes loanee picked up the ball inside Grimsby's half, he drove towards goal and managed to shrug off the challenge of the defender. After getting inside the box, his slight touch was enough for McCann to pick his spot.

Evans is already well-liked by Cheltenham supporters and Cotterill has been delighted with his impact. "Yes, now everyone knows why I wanted him," he said after his double against York.

"If anyone was wondering about him only being 17 when he signed...he's 18 now anyway. He's just a great lad. I tried to get him last year and I am glad I didn't really because if I'd have got him last year, we might not have got him this year.

"We would only have had him for a shorter period of time. For me, I am delighted we got him here. I love him, he's a great kid. His mum and dad absolutely cherish him. I still remember the Zoom call I had with him, his mum and dad and you can see how much they are rooting for him.

"The kids has no airs and graces, he is down to earth and a brilliant lad. He is a right tough cookie as well. I love all of those traits about him and you know what, he isn't a bad player either."

Assistant Manager Rob Edwards has also been full of praise for the 18-year-old. "He's another one who if you can get him into those areas, one v one he's going to cause you problems," he said.

"Jake today is learning about playing lots of minutes and Saturday, Tuesday. Saturday. He was good again and that's the challenge for him, playing games back-to-back. Certainly in terms of his attacking threat, he's lethal if we can get him near that goal."

Before Oliver Skipp moved to Charlton Athletic on deadline day, they hadn't lost any of their opening four Championship games. He started at the bet365 Stadium against Stoke City and played 90 minutes as they were thrashed 4-0.

The midfielder started alongside fellow new signing Timothy Ouma, who was replaced at half-time, before having Conor Coventry alongside him. All four goals were shipped in the first half so the damage was already done.

Addicks boss Nathan Jones took responsibility for the loss, declaring that the lack of familiarity in midfield could have impacted the game. "It probably did [changes have an impact] and I take full responsibility for that," he said.

"We felt we needed to freshen everyone up. They've had a big shift at home, they've had a big shift on Wednesday night. We've got no time to prepare, we're on the road, it's an early kick-off, all those things were contributing factors as to why we felt we needed to freshen it up."

The defeat was the first time Charlton had conceded four league goals since January.

Another deadline day exit was Stephy Mavididi. The winger made his Watford debut in the 1-0 defeat to West Brom, coming off the bench in the 67th minute.

In his 23 minutes on the pitch, the winger created two chances and produced a 0.45 expected assist. He did, however, only manage two successful dribbles from an attempted five and failed to deliver an accurate cross.

The Hornets are back in action tonight against Preston North End and there's a real chance that Mavididi comes in from the start. "The team is complete but now we wait for everyone to get up to full fitness and full power," Alessio Dionisi said.

"We have the players, now we need to build a team. In the first half West Brom played well, but we played well in the second half. I liked my team in the second half.

"The new players played well, but now we must be better and find a positive result."

After failing to become a regular at Leicester, Michael Golding is finally playing football with Shrewsbury Town. Since moving to Shropshire, the midfielder has played 21 minutes across two games, suffering 3-0 and 2-0 defeats to Rochdale and Fleetwood Town.

He got 14 minutes in the loss to Rochdale before managing just seven over the weekend. Gavin Cowan's men are currently 23rd in the League Two table after losing four of their opening five games.

Golding will be hoping to get his first start this weekend against Northampton Town. A season with a club fighting, though, will only help build his resilience.

Since moving to Northampton earlier in the summer, Logan Briggs has been a regular and has impressed. He started the first four League Two games for the Cobblers, scoring in the draw against Gillingham at the end of August.

Over the weekend, he was named on the bench and came on 10 minutes into the second half. Joe O'Brien Whitmarsh scored the winner in the 87th minute to move them up to 14th.

"He is a local boy who wants to play for Northampton Town," Northampton boss Chris Hogg said earlier this summer. "He is a player we have watched, we know a lot about and are delighted to bring in the group.

"Logan is a versatile, attacking midfield player who can play either centrally or wide, he has a lot of really good physical attributes with his mobility and pace and we believe he will be a good fit for us.

“He ticks a lot of boxes as far as we are concerned and we are really pleased to welcome Logan to Northampton Town.”

After looking promising for City in pre-season, Kirsten Otchere secured a loan move to Cheltenham in search of minutes in senior football. From the Robins' first five league games, the striker has started two games.

The arrival of Andreas Weimann has meant he has dropped to the bench and been forced to limited minutes in the last three games. He was left on the bench against Barnet before playing just one minute in the York win and four in the draw against Grimsby.

Jake Bickerstaff, another centre-forward option, has often been used ahead of him off the bench. City and Otchere will be hoping to see him get more minutes in the near future.

The Under-21s goalkeeper joined the National League South side at the end of last week, signing on a one-month loan. The move came about after Josh McNamara left the club after only three appearances.

Stevie Bausor is getting his first senior minutes after spending time with Russell Martin's first team throughout pre-season. Slough Town pointed towards the relationship between Morison and Slough boss Alan Julien after playing together at Stevenage Borough.

However, after the 2-1 defeat to Braintree Town, which Bausor started in, Julien was sacked after only arriving in the summer. The non-league side will be led by Johnny Goddard, Ryan Case and Henry Ochieng for the foreseeable future, starting against Salisbury on Tuesday night.

Despite joining Panathinaikos in the middle of July, Victor Kristiansen is still waiting to make his debut for the club. The Greek side started their Super League campaign, earning two wins in two, and sealed their spot in the Conference League proper after beating Paksi FC, CSKA 1948 and Hradec Kralove.

The left-back had suffered with a serious knee injury and was forced to undergo surgery at the end of 2025. Concerns about his fitness had put his move to Greece in doubt, but a loan exit with an option, which will become an obligation if certain conditions are met, was agreed.
