12 Leicester City players could miss Stevenage as international star back

Leicester Mercury · Josh Holland

Leicester City return to action tomorrow evening when they take on League One rivals Stevenage in the Jersey Mike's Trophy. Russell Martin's men will seal their spot in the knockout stages with a victory at Broadhall Way.

The Foxes beat Fulham Under-21s 6-1 in their opening game two weeks ago with Admir Bristric scoring a hat-trick. After a prolonged international break, City's game at Stevenage is the first of seven games this month.

It will be another opportunity for Martin to utilise his squad and give opportunities to players. In the win over Fulham, Bristric and Tommy Watson took their chances, while academy trio Will Lawrence, Lorenz Hutchinson and Tommy Neale were handed their first-team debuts.

Just like he did against Fulham Under-21s, Martin will have to make do without a number of players. Jakub Stolarczyk and Ben Nelson are both out with long-term injuries and aren't expected to come back any time soon.

City's Welsh trio Liam Cullen, Wes Burns and Dai Cornell spent the international break with Craig Bellamy's side, losing three of their four fixtures. Cullen started Sunday night's defeat to Denmark and Burns came off the bench, but it's unknown whether they'll be included in the squad for the trip to Stevenage.

Harry Souttar played 90 minutes in both of Australia's friendlies against Brazil, with the last one being played on September 29, so could return. Louis Page and Harry Howell have been part of the England Under-19s squad during the international break, with only Page featuring against USA and Belgium.

Left-back Christian McFarlane came off the bench to help England Under-20s beat Germany in Spain on Sunday, with their fixtures for this break done now. Ilari Kangasniemi, though, won't be involved on Tuesday with Finland Under-21s in action against Kosovo on the same evening.
