Victor Kristiansen exit route emerges as confirming Leicester City stance

The Foxes' rebuild of the squad for the 2026/27 season has been well-documented. The club need to fill the gap left financially from the loss of revenue following their relegation to League One.

They also need to sell players who have no future at LE2. Abdul Fatawu has interest around Europe, Jeremy Monga is being actively pursued by Arsenal and Caleb Okoli is one of Fiorentina's top targets. But Kristiansen's future has been up in the air for some time.

The left-back, who is still only 23, joined the club from Copenhagen in January 2023 for around £17million. After being part of the side that was relegated from the Premier League, Kristiansen spent the following campaign on loan with Bologna and helped them seal Champions League football.

His return to the King Power Stadium last term saw him start 29 league games but he failed to secure an exit last summer. In the Championship, he featured just five times due to a string of injury problems throughout the campaign.

In a season where City's first-choice left-back Luke Thomas put in some disastrous performances, Kristiansen couldn't get into the starting XI even when he was fit. This summer is now viewed as the perfect time to sell him.

Back in May, his comments to Danish site Viaplay removed any possible hope of him staying in England. "Playing for Copenhagen, living in Copenhagen, playing European tournaments in Parken - it's probably the coolest thing you can do as a Danish footballer," he said.

"But it's also not a given that FCK (Copenhagen) will want me with new coaches and a missing sporting director. But no, I didn't sign with Leicester to be a League One player." Kristiansen went on to reveal he is still in contact with people at Copenhagen, who were previously mentioned as an interested club.

However, a new exit route has emerged which could be music to Kristiansen's ears. TransferFeed have reported that Greek side Panathinaikos, managed by ex-Copenhagen boss Jakub Nistrup, are considering a move for the Dane this summer.

The report states that the left-back is valued at around €9m (£7.7m) but £5m would be considered a 'good deal'. Panathinaikos have concerns over his knee injury that forced him to miss three months last season.
