It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald. Nathan Jones knows Saturday's clash with Norwich City is 'big' as both teams seek to end long winless runs.

The Canaries have suffered five straight Championship losses, while Charlton hope to halt an eight-match winless run, though that spell has included five draws.

Saturday's clash at the Valley matters for both teams as they bid to get back on track under mounting pressure and frustrated fanbases. Jones hopes home comforts will give his team an edge as they seek their first win over the Canaries since 2009.

"We're at home, so we want to win the game. We've been good at home and we want to continue that good run and it's a big game," Jones said in his pre-match press conference.

"They've got a fantastic squad, a good manager and they know that they're a real difficult team to play against so we're going to have to be at our best. We've got to get back to winning ways. We've not won in too long now, as long as I've gone in my career without winning a game, for example.

"I know we've drawn quite a lot but we have to get that back now because we're starting to drift a little bit and we have to get that back."

Despite their poor form, the Addicks remain unbeaten at the Valley, keeping three clean sheets in their opening five matches.

That record underlines the challenge awaiting Norwich at a time when Clement's side desperately need something to change. Saturday brings together two teams short of confidence and chasing momentum, with pressure likely to intensify for whichever side extends its winless run at the Valley.

Jones believes a whole week of training will have helped reset his squad after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Watford last weekend and offered a positive fitness bulletin with a key duo returning for this clash against Norwich.

"We've had a really good week," he explained. "We've freshened the players up, they look sharp and we're ready for a different challenge.

"The squad is very healthy. We've got Nathaniel Chalobah and Matty Godden back training with us now, which is a big plus, so we're in a strong position in terms of numbers and availability
