Starting XIs: Slimane in for Forson

Eastern Daily Press · By Paddy Davitt

Anis Ben Slimane replaces Amankwah Forson in the one change to the Norwich City starting line up for Swansea City's Championship visit to a sun-kissed Carrow Road.

Head coach Philippe Clement has opted to stick with the majority of the XI who started the midweek 2-1 home win over Derby County.

Ruairi McConville, Ali Ahmed are back on the bench after missing the Rams win. But Oscar Schwartau is still out.

McConville was sick in the warm up on Tuesday after initially being named in the starting XI, while Ahmed and Schwartau missed out with unspecified injuries.

The Norwich chief indicated on Friday at his pre-match media he will not rush the likes of fit-again trio Lucien Mahovo, Papa Diallo or Jovon Makama back at this stage.

“It depends how long our season will last. Let's wait and see,” he said. “They've been out also a long time, but they are back on the grass, doing individual things, but Papa and Jov are not yet in training with the group.

"Lucien, for example, is training with the team now, but he comes also from a long way. We need to be smart with decisions when to bring these guys back and not to make decisions about one game, or 10 minutes in a game to risk things.”

Matej Jurasek would appear to be further behind that duo in his fitness recovery from a foot injury, with Clement revealing he has yet to return to outside rehab work.

Mirko Topic and Ante Crnac are ruled out for the season with ACL injuries. Topic is expected to be back for the start of pre-season.

Young midfielder Gabe Forsyth is also set for further assessment after a ‘setback’ on his long road back from an original knee injury suffered at Cardiff in November 2024. The Scot was pictured on crutches on derby weekend.

"He had a setback," said Clement, last week. "With him, it's already a long time story, so we're looking with the best specialist in the UK and outside to find the right way with him to get him back in, to get him back fit."

Manchester United loanee Harry Amass (hamstring) returned to his parent club to continue his rehabilitation, and will not return to Carrow Road this season.
