Notts County 0 Nottingham Forest 2 live - Jesus and Kalimuendo goals clinch win
The match at Meadow Lane rounded off Glasner’s first week in charge of the club after the players had reported for duty on Monday. Goals from Igor Jesus and Arnaud Kalimuendo secured victory over the Magpies.
Forest made a positive start against their neighbours as they saw a fair bit of the ball early on. Jesus twice got in inside the opening 20 minutes, forcing a save after being teed up by Omari Hutchinson and then going close with a header from the resulting corner.
With 26 minutes on the clock, though, the Brazilian did find the back of the net. A lovely ball from Morgan Gibbs-White set him on his way and he rolled his strike past James Belshaw to give the visitors the lead.
Hutchinson and Neco Williams tried to extend the Reds’ lead but the former had an effort charged down and his teammate was off target with a header. The hosts had a few moments of promise before the break but it was a relatively quiet 45 minutes for goalkeeper Matz Sels.
Glasner named a completely different XI for the second half as he shared the minutes around. But there was no change in Forest’s performance levels as they soon doubled their lead. Kalimuendo put his team 2-0 up when he headed in Eric da Silva Moreira’s cross.
Taiwo Awoniyi and Grady McDonnell had chances to extend the advantage, and although the hosts finished strongly it was a comfortable victory for Glasner’s side.

Kalimuendo scored the Reds’ second of a 2-0 victory over Notts County at Meadow Lane as the Glasner era got off to a winning start. Igor Jesus was also on the scoresheet for the visitors in their first outing of the summer.
Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to sign Kalimuendo on a permanent basis following his loan spell there last term. An option for the German outfit to sign him permanently was included in the deal but they have been trying to renegotiate the price.

It's still been a competitive affair, though.
Forest have put some promising moves together, just not really been able to carve out opportunities.

Just as I finished writing that, good work by Hutchinson down the right saw him tee up Jesus for a shot. Saved by the keeper

McAtee has started in the deeper role, alongside Yates in midfield. MGW on the left and Hutchinson on the right of Jesus up front.
Hutchinson made a great run early on but just ran into traffic before he could do a lot with the ball. Encouraging signs, though.

Murillo, Savona and Hudson-Odoi not in the squad having recently been injured.

The Austrian officially started work as Reds boss earlier this week when the players reported for pre-season. He has had a few days on the training ground with his new charges and will now get to see them in action.
A friendly against neighbours Notts County at Meadow Lane this afternoon (3pm kick-off) will be Glasner’s managerial debut with Forest. He has five weeks to go before his side’s Premier League opener against Leeds United at the City Ground on August 22.
Against the Magpies, Glasner has gone with a strong starting XI. A back three of Jair Cunha, Nikola Milenkovic and Morato will line up ahead of goalkeeper Matz Sels.

Could be MGW or McAtee taking up a deeper role alongside Yates in midfielder. Definitely a back three.

The potential of the project Marinakis has created at the City Ground is one of the reasons the Austrian was attracted to the job. He knows there are never any guarantees in football - not least at a club where he is the fifth head coach in the space of a year - but he is excited about where the Reds can go.
Glasner says he had interest from other clubs this summer, after leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season. But a dinner with Marinakis in the shipping magnate’s native Greece helped convince him Forest would be the right choice.

It is the Reds' first runout of the summer. After today, they head to Portugal for a 12-day training camp.
It's going to be interesting to see what formation Glasner goes with. He has generally been a 3-4-3 man but said in his press conference he hadn't decided whether he would favour a three or four-man back line.
