Nottingham Forest and Premier League clubs told of four new rule changes

Nottingham Post · Richard Garnett

With the top flight currently in its pre-season summer break following the conclusion of the 38-match season on May 24, Premier League lawmakers have ratified new regulations set to be introduced when the new season kicks off in August.

Here's a breakdown of the primary changes and how they will impact Nottingham Forest

Any player who undergoes on-field treatment or assessment will be required to leave the pitch for a minimum of 60 seconds. This represents a doubling of the previous 30-second period enforced by the Premier League.

Throw-ins and goal kicks will now be subject to a 'five second' countdown and restart reversal for clearly delaying the restart of play. Should the time limit be breached, the opposing side will be awarded the throw-in, while for a goal kick, the opposing team will receive a corner.

Players being substituted will now have a '10 second' time limit to leave the field of play. Should this time limit be exceeded, the incoming substitute will be barred from entering the pitch until the first stoppage occurring after one minute has passed following the restart.
