A guide to Plymouth Argyle's eight new first-year apprentices

Striker James Sharpe played up front with Owen Oseni from the start of the second period as the pair replaced Bim Pepple and Lorent Tolaj.

Meanwhile, Jovan Wamani began the second half playing at left-back before later switching across to the opposite side of the defence.

Wamani and Sharpe were both part of Argyle's squad for their Spanish training camp in Murcia the previous week, gaining a valuable insight into life as a professional footballer.

Sharpe joined the Greens at the under-11 age group, studied at Lipson Co-operative Academy, and featured multiple times for Jamie Lowry’s under-18s side across the last few seasons.

The forward also scored at Home Park in a FA Youth Cup first round tie against Mangotsfield United last October as the young Pilgrims came out on top 3-0.

Wamani has been in Argyle's academy for the last three seasons. He attended Westfield Academy in Yeovil and played often for the under-18s side last term.

Corey Browne: A left-sided defender who joined Argyle at the under-16 age group after previously being at Category One academy side Ipswich Town. First played for the under-18s as a 15-year-old.

Deniz Doru: Another defender who has been signed after a successful trial last season. The centre back featured for the under-16s and 18s on multiple occasions.

Harry Locke: The midfielder been a part of the Argyle academy for nine years, having joined at the under-9 age group, after two years in the pre-academy. The former Ivybridge Community College student made several appearances for the under-18s last season, finding the back of the net with some long-range strikes on multiple occasions.

Joel Tolcher: Joined Argyle's under-nine age group after two years in the pre-academy. The midfielder, who studied at Plymstock School, has already played for Jamie Lowry’s side in several FA Youth Cup ties.

Dylan Williams: The versatile defender, and former Ivybridge Community College student, has previously represented Argyle at the prestigious SuperCupNI tournament in Northern Ireland. Joined the Pilgrims at the under-nine level, following two years in the pre-academy.

Emran Wischhoff: The forward joins Argyle after a successful trial period at the end of last season, which included playing and scoring for Jamie Lowry's under-18s side. The physical and versatile goalscorer was previously in Charlton Athletic’s academy.

Argyle under-18s will play five successive away games in pre-season ahead of their 2026/27 campaign, starting at Sidmouth Town this Saturday, July 18.

Lowry's side will also play Leicester City on Tuesday, July 21, Cardiff City on Saturday, July 25, Elburton Villa on Tuesday, July 28 and Swansea City on Saturday, August 1.
