Stoke team news vs Cardiff as Mark Robins hands deadline day signing full debut

Luca Bombino makes his first Stoke City start this evening as the Potters take on Cardiff. Bombino comes in as one of three changes by Mark Robins as he looks for a first away win since January.

Bombino's transfer to Stoke from San Diego FC was announced on deadline day and he made his debut that evening as a substitute in a 1-0 win over Norwich. He stayed on the bench for a 4-0 win over Charlton on Saturday but now replaces Eric Bocat, who is being managed through an avalanche of fixtures in the Championship. Sam Gallagher and Bosun Lawal are not involved after picking up injuries in the Charlton match. Robert Bozenik comes into the front line for his first league start of the season, having made seven substitute appearances and scored twice, while Maksym Talovierov comes into the defence for his first start since March.

Robins keeps a back three, with Talovierov flanked by Ben Wilmot and Luke Graham and wing-backs Bombino and Ben Johnson. Ethan Galbraith, Djibril Soumare and Justin Devenny continue in midfield while George Hirst leads the line.

Million Manhoef returns to the bench after an injury. Junior Tchamadeu is believed to be not far away from a return. Ben Gibson is serving concussion protocol and Svante Ingelsson is expected to get back during the international break. Aaron Cresswell is a longer term absentee.

Joel Colwill replaces David Turnbull for Cardiff, who have 15-year-old Noah Anyadike and 16-year-old Paul Moreno among their substitutes.
