Stoke come into this fixture in need of a pick me up after a run of one point from the previous four games. They are coming to the end of Mark Robins' first full campaign as manager, which started so promisingly but has fizzled out over the last five months. They slipped into negative goal difference for the first time this week and need to find a flourish to avoid a bottom-half finish.
Portsmouth arrive in the Potteries having secured their status in the division despite a heavy mid-week defeat at champions Coventry. Pompey had won their previous three games without conceding a goal to pull clear of Leicester City and Oxford United in the bottom three.
It will be the final home game for some Stoke players although which remains to be confirmed - and some will inevitably get better send-offs than others. Ashley Phillips, for example, has been a fans' favourite following two long-term loans from Spurs.

Boos at the half-time whistle.

CommentsPeter SmithToday15:47 BST45+2Stoke 0 Portsmouth 1Gallagher tees back an Otegbayo cross for Bozenik to get a shot on target although it's too tame to worry Killip.

Thomas loops it inot the box but Phillips can't beat his man to the first contact.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:43 BST42Stoke 0 Portsmouth 1Otegbayo is a threat at corners and, when he can't quite get a killer touch, Stoke stay on the attack.
Thomas crosses from the left and Cisse heads on goal, it's flicked up again by Phillips but Cisse can't finish it off.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:41 BST41Stoke 0 Portsmouth 1It's a pretty demoralised home support. Bozenik tries to make something happen by hooking a high ball into the box for Thomas, who lets it bounce a little too comfortably for the defence.
Nevertheless, Killip contrives to concede a corner and Phillips almost clips it in.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:40 BST40Stoke 0 Portsmouth 1Cisse loses possession down the left and Portsmouth break easily through the Stoke team to swing in a cross for Colby Bishop, which he touches past the post.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:38 BST38Stoke 0 Portsmouth 1Portsmouth fans: "How bad must you be, we're winning away?"
They're giving ref David Webb some stick as well, which is probably valid.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:32 BST32GOAL! Stoke 0 Portsmouth 1 - Adrian SegecicPortsmouth lead.
It's a goal that will have you scratching your head as to how it happened. Out of nowhere, Portsmouth have so much space in the Stoke half and Harvey Blair rolls a pass through Eric Bocat to Adrian Segecic. Bocat, rather than going to Segecic, runs behind Simkin as Segecic picks his spot.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:32 BST31Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Sorba Thomas gets away with an attempted flick going awry that gives Portsmouth a chance to lift a pass into the Stoke box - but it's a poor pass that Simkin can smother.
Tchamadeu and Nzonzi are getting some love from the Stoke fans as they warm up down the touchline.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:27 BST26Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Ash Phillips is defending on the front foot this afternoon. He keeps nipping in to get a touch on the ball.
Agina is unfortunate not to get a free-kick when he's fouled by Adrian Segecic running in from the right, under the nose of ref Webb.
Chances at either end have been limited as we approach the half-hour mark.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:24 BST23Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Thomas's cross from the left is deflected and Bozenik can't get a convincing first touch as he tries to steal into position in the middle. It bounces to Seko, whose shot is deflected over.
Thomas's corner comes deep to Seko too and he blasts that high into the south stand. He had time to control it.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:21 BST21Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Robert Bozenik must have one of those faces that referees don't like. He gets punished for things a lot softer than the things that are done to him. It's a learning curve to make sure he can do things more on the blind side.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:19 BST18Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0There's a giant beach ball being bounced around the Tile Mountain Stand with the kind of oles normally reserved for a Brazil-style passing move. It gets confiscated by a steward but another is swiftly produced.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:17 BST17Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Thomas's delivery from the corner is decent and Otegbayo isn't far away as he attacks it. Portsmouth get it clear but it's Thomas sprinting back to win possession. His long ball forward towards Gallagher is dangerous and Killip has to rush out of his box to head it into touch.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:15 BST16Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Agina does well again to get down the right and this time he wins a corner.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:12 BST12Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Bozenik hits the deck claiming a wallop in his face from Dia. The physios are summoned to look at a potentially bleeding nose.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:09 BST9Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Bozenik is trying to get in behind the Portsmouth defence when he is dragged back by Madiodio Dia, mid-way inside their half. Stoke get the free-kick and it's a surprise David Webb didn't show a yellow card.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:05 BST6Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0New keeper Ben Killip, for what it's worth, hasn't played since September.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:05 BST5Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0That was Bursik's first appearance since October. He's been back-up at Fratton Park. He was a lovely kid whenever we spoke to him up here. The doctor was on with him and we'll wish him well.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:04 BST4Portsmouth subJoe Bursik gets a polite applause as he is replaced by Ben Killip.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:02 BST2Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0A hold up in play as Joe Bursik needs the physio on. It looks like Portsmouth will have to make an immediate change.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:01 BST1Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0A super little run from Syd Agina to get to the by-line and whip in a good cross. Lamine Cisse wasn't quite expecting it and Portsmouth clear at the front post.
CommentsPeter SmithToday15:00 BST1Stoke 0 Portsmouth 0Sam Gallagher is startnig on the right with Cisse in the middle.

CommentsPeter SmithToday14:53 BSTPortsmouth bring the beach ballsPortsmouth fans are in a party mood after booking their place in this division for another season.
It's a big following and it looks like there's a huge police presence within it until you realise that there are a fair few wearing a blindingly bright fluorescent green away shirt.
CommentsPeter SmithToday14:52 BSTA final home game for who else?It wouldn't be a surprise if Ben Pearson, Tatsuki Seko and Eric Bocat were also running out here for the final time in a Stoke shirt. Pearson is captain today.
Stoke would be loathed to lose Sorba Thomas unless a big bid came in from the Premier League. There will be an element of trading this summer though.
