Conrad Hunt comletes Farnham Town loan move

Watford Observer · By Jak Netting

Farnham compete in the Enterprise National League South, the sixth tier of English football, where they currently sit ninth in the table, just a point away from the play-off places.

Hunt joined Northern Irish side Coleraine on a season-long loan in the summer, but returned to Watford early after being an unused substitute in both legs of their Conference League tie against HJK Helsinki.

The 19-year-old is now set for a fresh challenge in English football and could make his Farnham debut as soon as Tuesday night, when they host Truro City.

Hunt joined Watford from AFC Bournemouth in November 2023 and penned his first professional contract with the Hornets in May 2025.

Earlier this summer, the defender penned a new one-year contract, with the option of an additional year, before his brief stint with Coleraine.

Over the summer, Watford withdrew from the U21 league system, putting a greater focus on the link between the club’s under-18s and the first team.

As a result, players who are too old to feature for the under-18s gain experience from either training with the first team, or heading out on loan at early stages in their career, like Hunt is doing.

In their statement over the summer announcing this decision, the club reemphasised their commitment to the academy.

“The Club does not believe fulfilling the U21 fixture programme is in the best interest of its young players and their prospects,” they confirmed, “So it has notified the EFL of its decision to withdraw from the league for next season.

“We once again reaffirm our long-term commitment to the success of the Academy and the club’s track record of producing players like Ashley Young, Adrian Mariappa, Lloyd Doyley, Paul Robinson, Tommy Smith and Ryan Andrews.”
