A return to club football is now only four days away, when the Hornets host Burnley at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
Before then, there are a host of international matches still to be played, including a handful involving Watford players.
Which Watford players are playing internationally this week
Two such players featured for their respective nations on Monday evening, and they enjoyed very successful outings.
Here is the full summary for those who did represent their nations on Monday.
Othmane Maamma turned 21 on Tuesday, but celebrated his birthday a day early as he scored in Morocco U23s’ 3-1 win over Ittihad Tangier.
The Moroccan youth side had been due to face Tanzania U23s, but it was cancelled after the opponents withdrew due to an accumulation of injuries.
As a result, a last-minute friendly was arranged against top-flight Moroccan club Ittihad Tangier.
Maamma has featured in all eight of the Hornets’ Championship fixtures so far this season, including six starts.
The winger has struggled to impress for the Hornets, however, and will return with competition to keep his place following the free-agent arrival of Krepin Diatta.
Hector Kypriano once again started as a centre-back as Cyprus battled to a dramatic 2-1 UEFA Nations League win over Latvia.
It was the 25-year-old’s third start of the international break, his third at centre-back, having featured as a late substitute in their other game.
Cyprus looked to be heading towards a disappointing home defeat until Giannis Kosti equalised in the 70th minute, and Burnley forward Marcus Edwards dramatically won the game with a 94th-minute winner.
The win put Cyprus within three points of group leaders Montenegro, with two games, including one at home to Montenegro, remaining.
