When opportunities knock, Wrexham really do start needing to take them

One-nil victories were front and centre during the League One promotion campaign and it wasn’t an unfamiliar scoreline for Reds’ fans in the first season in the second tier for more than four decades.

It’s not a trait that would be welcome during the next few months, but it was back in Monday’s crackling opener at Cardiff.

Phil Parkinson’s side had opportunities to put the game to bed following Kieffer Moore’s brilliant early opener, but as at Southampton 12 months ago, Wrexham conceded in time added on.

The Reds did at least pick up a point, but it should have been three.

Chances are being created, though, and Wrexham now just need to start taking them.

When opportunities knock versus Watford at The Racecourse tomorrow, supporters will hope to see them taken - and I’m backing Parkinson’s side to gather their first three-point haul of the campaign.
