THE Cherries are continuing to explore bringing Christos Mandas back to the club on loan, the Daily Echo understands.

The hierarchy at Bournemouth like the Greek keeper, but opted not to meet the option to buy in his loan move in the second half of last season, and he didn’t hit the necessary appearances for the move to become permanent.

Bournemouth have enquired with Lazio around bringing Mandas back to Dean Court for another loan, as first reported by Sky Sports' Mark McAdam, but, should they be unable to reach an agreement, the Cherries will move on to other options.

Will Dennis picked up an injury, which prompted Bournemouth to bring in Fraser Forster on a short-term deal, before Mandas joined from Lazio and Dennis went to Leyton Orient, both on loan moves.

While Forster and Mandas did not play a minute for the Cherries last term, boss Andoni Iraola hailed their impact on Djordje Petrovic.

The club want to now replicate the keeping department as they had it in the second half of last term, with Mandas providing strong competition to the Serbian stopper and Forster playing a mentor role to the 26-year-old.

Forster has been offered a new contract, and the club are exploring another loan for Mandas.
