Wycombe vs Argyle Recap: Pilgrims pick up first point of season

Plymouth Live · Chris Errington

Looking to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat by Stockport County at Home Park on the opening day, the Pilgrims took a 25th minute lead.

Striker Will Evans, in his third match after signing from Mansfield Town, grabbed his first goal for Argyle with a powerful left-foot finish after some excellent build-up play.

Evans thought he had made it 2-0 later in the first half when he fired past former Argyle goalkeeper Conor Hazard, only for an offside flag to be raised.

Wycombe had posed little threat before the break but were much improved in the second period, and had some good chances to equalise before they drew level in the 76th minute.

After Argyle captain Wes Harding was booked for a foul on Silko Thomas, the resulting free-kick was played into the penalty area by Ewan Henderson and Connor Taylor headed home.
