Northampton Town v Coventry City live pre-season updates

The Sky Blues are no strangers to Sixfields, of course, after a season and a bit in exile at the ground in 2013/14. The Cobblers, meanwhile, are newly relegated to League Two after finishing bottom of the third tier last season.

Frank Lampard's men are still early in their pre-season schedule with today's game coming after a 3-2 opening friendly defeat to League One AFC Wimbledon last weekend at the end of an intense week-long training camp in Spain.

City face stiffer opposition next month when they entertain Espanyol (Aug 8) and AS Monaco (Aug 14) at the CBS Arena as well as being expected to play other games behind-closed-doors.

The ball is underhit and fails to beat the first man but Eccles is on hand to recyle and send it back out to the full-back who sends in a second cross, only to go over the head of Simms who is waiting in the box.
