Eintracht Frankfurt statement sums up why Sky Blues completed £17m Amenda deal

Coventry City have secured their second new arrival of the summer with a £17million transfer for centre back Aurele Amenda.

The 22-year-old has signed a contract that wil l reportedly keep him with the Sky Blues until 2030 after completing a move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

He joins Loum Tchaouna at the CBS Arena, with Frank Onyeka also making last season’s loan a permanent deal.

The central defender will challenge Bobby Thomas and Liam Kitching for game time as Frank Lampard’s prepares for the club’s first top flight campaign in 25 years.

After finalising the transfer on Thursday the Switzerland international spoke of the ‘trust’ he felt after speaking with Lampard and his enthusiasm for Doug King’s ‘project’.

He arrives having made 42 appearances over his two seasons with the Bundesliga and while that might not sound like loads, he has clearly made a positive impression in the time since he joined from BSC Young Boys.

Indeed the club announced the move with a short but positive statement on their website, including a personal reference that will be music to Lampard’s ears.

Eintracht’s board member for sport Markus Krösche said: “We’d like to thank Aurèle for his commitment in an Eintracht Frankfurt shirt. He always conducted himself with professionalism and always put the team first. We wish him all the best for the future, both in his sporting career and in his private life.”
