Hull Live reported at the start of the summer that Portsmouth were pushing hard to bring their former loan star back to the club, and discussions had been held over a permanent move.
Charlton Athletic had shown interest but were not able to meet the financial package City wanted for a player they signed from Norwich City on deadline day in the summer of 2024, with the Addicks thought to prefer an initial loan.
Kamara had featured in all three of City's pre-season games, scoring in the opening win over Konyaspor. He spent last season on loan in Spain's La Liga with Getafe, but his campaign was hampered by injury.
Pompey boss John Mousinho has spoken of his desire to bring Kamara back to the South Coast, and now it looks like they will finally be reunited.
Kamara became a firm favourite at Fratton Park after scoring 10 goals and notching up 11 assists in their League One-winning squad.
