Man United's dream midfield with Tchouameni, Mainoo role clear and £30m signing

Casemiro's confirmed exit, alongside a potential Jadon Sancho farewell, is set to free up space on the wage bill and move United closer to agreeing a deal with the £70million-rated Real Madrid midfielder.

Replacing Casemiro in the number six position has become a top priority for United, and the 26-year-old, who has made 44 appearances this season, is a midfield anchor for the La Liga giants.

Tchouameni signing would be a clear statement of intent from United, with the addition taking pressure off young Kobbie Mainoo, who has come into his own since Michael Carrick took the reins.

The 21-year-old was left out in the cold by former boss Ruben Amorim but has since become an integral part of the starting XI following his sacking. Carrick has pushed for Mainoo to receive a new long-term contract, and he is considered a crucial piece of the future puzzle.

Mainoo and Tchouameni partnering up for defensive duties in the midfield would help club captain Bruno Fernandes flourish going forward. The United skipper has 18 assists so far this season, alongside eight goals, and has been a shining light for the Old Trafford faithful.

United may consider adding yet another face to the midfield, especially if their new manager prefers a 4-4-2 formation. Joining Fernandes and Matheus Cunha at the tip of the attacking midfield could be Wolves star, Joao Gomes.

The club have shown interest in several midfielders and would view Gomes as a bargain. Wolves' relegation to the Championship was confirmed after West Ham secured a draw with Crystal Palace last week.

This transfer fee could drop even further in the summer due to Wolves' relegation. Tchouameni and Gomes are very different midfield profiles, giving the new manager options for setting up the middle of the park.

But with the influence Mainoo has had in recent weeks, along with his impending new contract, his importance cannot be understated.
