A centre back, striker and keeping stars - Cherries transfer window wishlist

Bournemouth Echo · By Alexander Smith

THE transfer window opens today and, as ever, there is likely to be action at Dean Court.

It is understood that the club will be aiming to keep hold of all of their stars from last season as a priority, and then look to bolster the group with three or four signings as they look to prepare for their first European campaign.

Much of the business this summer will be determined by Marco Rose's first few weeks in the job in pre-season, but here are a few positions where the club may be looking to reinforce.

This, along with keeping all their key players, has to be a priority.

Marcos Senesi was a vital part of the Bournemouth team last season, so a replacement for him is essential.

They'll be looking for a left-sided centre back, ideally left-footed but at the least comfortable with playing on the left of the centre back pairing.

Competition for Djordje Petrovic in goal

Bournemouth are keen to replicate the keeping department they had at the back end of last season.

That will see them hopefully renew the deal of Fraser Forster, but they will want to get in a second choice keeper who can provide real competition for Petrovic.

Christos Mandas is set to return to Lazio after his loan deal ended and the club didn't trigger the option to buy, and the Cherries are understood to be exploring bringing him back on another loan.

But if they don't get Mandas back, they'll need to find another option who can provide Petrovic real competition.

Enes Unal is likely to leave the club this summer so a replacement for him and competition for Evanilson will be needed.

While Junior Kroupi is a number nine too, whether Rose will be convinced that he can lead the press like the Brazilian can will be determined in pre-season.

He may be deployed again in the second striker/number ten role as he was in the back end of last season.

A slightly different profile to Kroupi and Evanilson may be brought in, to give a different option.

Right back or another forward

The club may need to go into the market for a replacement right back, as they await the outcome of the FA's investigation into Alex Jimenez.

Aside from that, another versatile forward who could perhaps cover the wings or number ten could be a good option, to provide more depth there.
