RYAN Christie has signed a new deal with the Cherries that will keep the Scot at the club until 2029.

Christie’s previous deal was set to expire in the summer of 2027, but he has put pen to paper on a contract that will see him stay at the Vitality Stadium for another two seasons.

He told afcb.co.uk: “It feels brilliant and I’m absolutely delighted. Especially after the way the season finished, it’s been such an incredible year for the club having qualified for Europe. I’m looking forward to next season already.

“With the World Cup coming up, it felt like the perfect time to sign before heading away for that, and now I can fully focus on the future.

“When I joined the club, I obviously had aspirations to play in the Premier League and I strongly believed we could get promoted, but the journey we’ve been on since then has been incredible.

“I’ve been so fortunate to be part of it and to play so many games along the way. Since getting promoted, we’ve never really looked back. Five years on, to now be in this position signing a new contract, it’s really special.”

Tiago Pinto, AFC Bournemouth’s head of football operations, added: “Ryan has made a hugely important contribution to the football club since arriving here and we’re delighted he has signed a new contract.

“He is a key part of the leadership group in the dressing room and has consistently shown his value to the team through his performances, experience and commitment. We look forward to continuing that journey together over the coming years as he continues to play an important role during such a significant period in the club’s history.”

The midfielder, who is currently at the World Cup with Scotland, has been an integral part of the side since he joined in the summer of 2021 from Celtic.

Initially joining as an attacking midfielder who could be deployed on the wing, Christie dropped into a deeper midfield role where he flourished under Andoni Iraola.

He was a key part of a record-breaking 2024/25 season, which saw him voted the Micky Cave/Daily Echo player of the season.

Last season was disrupted by injury but the 31-year-old returned to fitness and began to reach the form which saw him play such a big role the previous campaign, as Bournemouth went on an 18-game unbeaten run to end the season and qualify for the Europa League.

His involvement was cut short, though, after a straight red card at Craven Cottage against Fulham which saw him miss the final two games of the season, and will see the Scot suspended for the first game of next term.

In total, Christie made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Cherries last term, scoring twice, against Crystal Palace in October and Manchester United in March.

His contributions have earned him a new deal, which will extend his stay on the south coast to 2029.

Christie has featured 177 times in all competitions for Bournemouth, scoring ten goals.
