Crysencio Summerville set for eye-watering pay rise as surprise deal agreed

Summerville's exit from West Ham was always expected after the club suffered relegation to the Championship, however it did look like a switch to Serie A side Roma was on the cards after a £40m deal had been tabled.

That deal was then trumped by the cash-rich Saudi league when Al-Hilal tabled a £55m deal with a further £5m in ad-ons set to take it to a whopping £60m. For his part, Summerville is expected to see his wage rise from £50,000 per week to an eye-watering £250,000 a week, earning five times what he was getting in the English top flight.

Having already sold midfielder Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham for £85m last month, West Ham have already come close to covering the loss from the Premier League relegation with just two deals. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo is now staying on at the club in an effort to bring the Hammers straight back up.

Summerville had been a target for a number of clubs this summer, with talk of a potential switch to Aston Villa, but will now make the move to Saudi Arabia.

The 24-year-old was a popular member of the Leeds side having spent four years at Elland Road, including a season-best display in the 2023/24 season when he scored 21 goals and had 10 assists in helping Leeds reach the play-off final at Wembley, before losing to Southampton.
